CamoSuite for Social Workers

Offline Private Case Notes

Record, Transcribe, Anonymize

Dictate field notes, transcribe privately, anonymize client identifiers, and prepare for AI analysis

No cloud, no internet required.

Social workers document some of the most sensitive information in professional practice: child welfare investigations, domestic violence disclosures, mental health and substance use histories, housing crises, and family court proceedings.

CamoSuite gives you a fully local workflow. Dictate field notes, transcribe and anonymize on your laptop, then upload clean notes to any AI for analysis or report drafting.

Where Social Workers Use CamoSuite

CamoSuite helps where sensitive client data intersects with modern AI productivity tools.

Field Visit Documentation

After a home visit, a child welfare worker dictates observations into their phone — names, addresses, family dynamics, conditions observed — before leaving the client's street. CamoVoice transcribes the audio privately back at the office. CamoText anonymizes the transcript before it touches any AI-assisted drafting tool.

Court Report and Assessment Drafting

Court reports require careful, structured language. Social workers use AI to help draft and refine language from rough notes — but those notes contain names, case numbers, placement addresses, and allegations. CamoText strips identifiers before the notes are uploaded, then the AI output is reviewed and de-anonymized locally.

Supervision Preparation

Supervision sessions often involve presenting case details to a supervisor or consulting team. Preparing anonymized case summaries with CamoText enables social workers to share clinical complexity for consultation without exposing client identities — particularly important for external or peer consultation groups.

Multi-Agency Case Coordination

Information shared across agencies — school districts, housing authorities, healthcare providers, law enforcement — carries overlapping confidentiality obligations. CamoText prepares clean, de-identified summaries for cross-agency correspondence and AI-assisted coordination, removing client identifiers before any external sharing.

School Social Work and FERPA

School social workers handle educational records that carry FERPA protections on top of standard client confidentiality. Anonymizing student names, parent names, and school identifiers before drafting IEP summaries, behavioral assessments, or intervention plans with AI ensures FERPA-sensitive data stays within the school's control.

Grant Reporting and Aggregate Analysis

Program outcome reports for funders typically require de-identified aggregate data. CamoText can batch-process case notes or intake records, stripping identifying details to produce clean text for AI-assisted pattern analysis, aggregate reporting, and program evaluation — without manual redaction of each record.

Why Existing Tools Fall Short

AI documentation tools marketed to social service providers are almost universally cloud-based. Every dictation, every transcript, every rough case note uploaded to a cloud transcription or AI service passes through servers your agency does not control.

What cloud tools expose

  • Client names, children's names, and family addresses sent to third-party servers
  • Allegations, mental health disclosures, and domestic violence details processed on vendor AI infrastructure
  • Audio recordings transmitted and retained for transcription
  • Case numbers, court docket references, and agency IDs embedded in metadata
  • Data subject to vendor terms changes, breaches, and legal discovery
  • No guarantee data is purged after a session — retention policies vary widely

What social workers actually need

  • Transcription that runs on their device, not Otter's or Google's infrastructure
  • A way to strip client names and case identifiers before any AI sees the text
  • Human review before anonymization is finalized — not black-box automation
  • Metadata removed from audio and document files before sharing
  • One-time cost, instead of expensive subscriptions and lock-in
  • Tools that work offline, anywhere

Overlapping obligations. Social workers routinely operate under multiple confidentiality frameworks simultaneously — HIPAA where a healthcare entity is involved, FERPA in school settings, 42 CFR Part 2 for substance use records, state mandatory reporting statutes, and agency-specific data governance policies. A BAA with a cloud vendor satisfies one layer; it does not satisfy the others. The cleanest approach is ensuring client-identifiable information never leaves the practitioner's device in the first place.

A Field-to-Report Workflow

From a voice memo recorded at the curb to an anonymized AI-ready document — entirely on your laptop.

01 — Dictate Immediately after a home visit or client meeting, dictate observations into iPhone Voice Memos or any audio recorder. Capture context while it's fresh, without writing in front of a client. iPhone Voice Memos
02 — Convert Transfer the audio file to your computer. CamoConvert strips all embedded metadata — GPS coordinates, device identifiers, creation timestamps — and converts to a clean audio format for transcription. CamoConvert
03 — Transcribe Load the cleaned audio into CamoVoice. The on-device Whisper model transcribes entirely offline. No audio is uploaded, no API is called. Export as a plain text file or formatted document. CamoVoice
04 — Anonymize & Draft Open the transcript in CamoText. Client names, addresses, case numbers, dates, and other identifiers are detected and masked. Review the output, flag anything additional, then export for AI-assisted report drafting. CamoText

Example: Post-Visit Dictation to Anonymized Court Report Draft

A child protective services worker finishes a home visit and, sitting in their car before driving away, records a Voice Memo: "Visit with the Martinez family, 4417 Westbrook Lane. Parents Marcus and Diana present. Three children — ages 6, 9, and 14. Observed clean home conditions. Marcus disclosed he has resumed outpatient treatment at Valley Recovery Center. Oldest child, Trevor, showed bruising on left forearm consistent with self-reported bicycle fall..."

Back at the office, the file is transferred and opened in CamoConvert. The GPS tag embedded by the phone — recording the client's home address — is stripped, along with device metadata. The cleaned file is loaded into CamoVoice, which transcribes it locally in under two minutes.

The transcript is opened in CamoText. Family names, the street address, the treatment facility name, and the child's name are detected and replaced with structured tokens: <PERSON_b4c9>, <STREET_ADDRESS_f27a>, <ORGANIZATION_3e81>. The worker manually highlights the age references and flags them as well. The anonymized text is exported and uploaded to an AI assistant to help draft the structured court report. The AI output is reviewed, the tokens are swapped back locally, and the final report is finalized — the AI never saw a real name or address.

The CamoSuite Tools

CamoVoice
Offline transcription and voice typing

Transcribe field dictations, recorded interviews, and supervision session audio using an on-device Whisper model. No cloud upload, no audio ever leaving your machine.

  • Local Whisper-based transcription — fully offline after install
  • Handles .m4a, .mp3, .wav, .mp4 and other common formats
  • Fast and thinking modes for speed vs. accuracy tradeoff
  • Document and timestamped text export
  • Live voice typing hotkey into any app — useful for direct note entry

CamoConvert
Local file conversion and metadata scrubbing

Remove hidden metadata from audio and document files before transcription, sharing, or archival. A GPS-tagged iPhone recording carries the client's home address as embedded data — CamoConvert removes it before the file is ever processed.

  • Strips GPS, device ID, and timestamp metadata from audio and image files
  • Converts HEIC, M4A, and other Apple-native formats
  • Converts documents to plain text, Markdown, or HTML for AI input
  • Batch mode for processing entire folders of intake documents
  • Extract audio from video recordings of interviews or group sessions

CamoText
Offline anonymization and redaction

Detect and mask client names, addresses, case numbers, dates, phone numbers, and other identifiers from case notes and transcripts before uploading to any AI service. Human review is built into the design — every masked item is visible and editable before export.

  • Detects names, contact info, addresses, dates, IDs, SSNs, and more
  • Highlight-to-anonymize for anything the model misses or that is contextually sensitive
  • Anonymize with tokens or fully redact — configurable per item type
  • Batch mode for multiple transcripts or intake files at once
  • Metadata-free output; optional de-anonymization key stored locally
