Why Use a Browser-Based Anonymizer?

Using privacy tools can feel like an extra skippable step when working quickly. While our powerful offline desktop app, CamoText Pro, offers an intuitive interface and powerful features, it requires opening and using a separate app. Our users have asked for an even quicker and easier alternative, and we've delivered CamoText Plus to provide local privacy directly in-browser:

  • Zero data transmission: Your text never leaves your device, not even for processing
  • AI-powered recognition: A local, lightweight NLP model downloads and runs entirely in your browser
  • Simple, familiar interface: Input, anonymize, review and tweak, copy or save— all on one page.

Once loaded, Plus works entirely offline.


Quick Start


  1. Access the app: Navigate to camotext.ai/plus to buy a license (the AI model will be automatically downloaded to your device when the key is entered), or use the limited free trial. All processing following this step is local, inside your browser.
  2. Add your text: Paste text directly or load TXT, PDF, or DOCX files
  3. Process: Click Anonymize to run AI-powered recognition
  4. Review: Check the anonymization key and output for accuracy
  5. Export: Copy or download your anonymized content
  6. Click Clear or refresh the page to run another anonymization

Bookmark or create a shortcut to the Plus page for easy future access. Your license and AI model are stored and cached on your device, and you can use the license on multiple devices.

Other Features

CamoText Plus includes several of the popular features of CamoText Pro:

Priority Text

When certain terms must be anonymized without fail, the priority text feature ensures that specific names, project codes, or other critical identifiers are always detected and anonymized first. Priority terms and lists can be saved and re-used.

Categorized Review and Reversion

The "Revert Categories" feature allows review of anonymization findings by type and reverting entire categories at once. For example, one might want to revert all DATE findings while keeping ORG entities anonymized, or more easily review long lists of detected entities.

Search and Highlight Anonymization

There may be additional subjective content you'd like removed, or the AI may miss items due to uncommon context or formatting issues. CamoText Plus includes search functionality that lets you find specific text in the output and anonymize it with a click. Users can also simply manually highlight text in the input and click-to-anonymize, an essential human-in-the-loop feature.

Supported Data Types

  • Persons: Individual names and identifiers
  • Organizations: Company names, institutions, and organizational entities
  • Locations: Addresses, cities, countries, and geographic references
  • Miscellaneous: Other information deemed contextually sensitive by the local NLP model
  • Contact info: Email addresses, phone numbers, and social media handles
  • Financial data: Credit card numbers, account numbers, and monetary amounts
  • Government IDs: SSNs, passports, driver's license numbers
  • Digital identifiers: IP addresses, URLs, file paths, UUIDs, and crypto addresses

Technical Architecture

Local Processing

All text processing happens entirely within your browser using javascript-based workers and local NLP. No data is ever transmitted to external servers except for the initial license key verification.

AI Model Privacy

The neural network used for entity recognition is lightweight and optimized for local browser performance. Future improvements to the model will be automatically available to Plus subscribers.

Zero Data Retention

All processing is ephemeral and occurs only in your browser's memory, caching and storing your key, model, and any priority text lists you've saved only on your device.

  • Memory: 2GB RAM minimum, 4GB recommended for large documents
  • Storage: 100MB free space for AI model download
  • Internet: Required only for initial page and model load and subscription verification

Best Practices

• Start small, one document at a time. Shorter documents are anonymized faster and are more easily reviewed.
• Use priority text. Add critical terms to ensure they're always anonymized.
• Always review output. AI recognition is probabilistic; human review is essential for accuracy.

CamoText Plus is designed as an easy, quick, intuitive tool to cleanse your prompts and context before pasting them into ChatGPT or Claude one browser tab over, but Pro is still best for heavier jobs or where you want batch processing.

Plus's algorithms are still being actively tested and adjusted, but subscribers automatically get updates every time they navigate to the page.
